So long

I’m taking an extended hiatus from making music. Thanks to everyone whose been supportive of my efforts in the past. It’s been a fun ride and I’m very grateful for having had the chance to get my music heard. It’s hard to put in words why I’ve decided this, but there are other areas of my life that need attention and music is sort of an all-or-nothing pursuit for me. I don’t think I can give it the energy it would need to be worthwhile at this point.

Anyway, not trying to be dramatic, just figure there might be some people out there wondering whats happening. There aren’t any more planned releases unfortunately, due to lack of label interest and my own lack of desire/ability to release my music on my own. There are a couple of “maybes” in the works, but they are out of my hands at this point. Although I will update this space should anything come of those.

I’m really excited to be playing my first Live set (using ableton and an APC40 controller) on Dec. 4th at 222 Hyde. If you haven’t been to this venue in a while then you really need to come check it out! It’s been completely remodeled with an amazing new sound system installed. My friends DJG, J. Rogers, Bakir and Rozanski started their new monthly there last month and have been kind enough to invite me to come play. Can’t wait!

some thoughts about music

i’ve been getting really excited about analog gear lately. some of my good friends are big proponents of the classic tools for making electronic music and it’s only now starting to fully dawn on me how right they are. thats not to say i’m switching to a primitive sequencer with a bunch of 303’s and 909’s (although actually i wouldn’t mind trying that out!) but i am augmenting my digital computer based studio with some choice analog bits. it’s making all the difference for my excitement and enjoyment lately. and that really is key for me at least.

also want to shout out an upcoming gig in san francisco. i’m playing with Jega, Kush Arora, Staypuft & Harbor at the Lipo Lounge on Saturday August 22nd. It should be a fun intimate night in a grimey basement of a bar in china town with a big fat booming sound system. have had some good times there in the past, most notably when my friend Dave DJM brought Paradox in for a live show. I don’t know if this will top that, but it should be interesting. no boundaries!
